Where We Are

From Yeovil, take the A37 Dorchester Road, right turn to Halstock, carry on until you reach Halstock, turn right at the triangle in the middle of the village. The Chalet is about 1 1/2 miles on the right. If you reach Winford Rural Workshops, you've just passed us!

From Crewkerne, take the A356 Dorchester Road for about 4 miles, turn left opposite the Winyards Gap pub. Follow the road for about 1 1/2 miles, we're just pas the Winford Rural Workshops on the left.

Our nearest towns are Yeovil, Crewkerne, Beaminster and Bridport. We are 1 1/2 miles from the village of Halstock with a small community shop. The nearest supermarkets are in Yeovil and Crewkerne. Within 2 miles there are a choice of 2 pubs both serving excellent food.

Things To Do

Bracketts Coppice - Just a 2 minute walk up the road is Bracketts Coppice nature reserve. A dorset wildlife beauty spot with extensive woodland and stream running through. We recommend you wear long trousers when walking here.

Common Lane - Also within walking distance is common lane; a country track that stretches from Halstock to Corscombe, also perfect for cycling!

Melbury Estate - Located between Evershot and Melbury, just a 15 minute drive away is the beautiful Melbury Estate which is home to a herd of deer.

Ham Hill Country Park - Outside Stoke-Sub-Hamdon is Ham Hill Park, famous for its amazing views over Somerset and surrounding areas. After enjoying the park there is also the Prince of Wales pub for refreshments.

West Bay - A half an hour drive is West Bay, home of famous TV drama Broadchurch. Enjoy the beaches in the summer, walks along the cliffs and fish & chips on the front!

Lyme Regis - A very popular beach in the summer is Lyme Regis with its beautiful sandy beach. Lovely to walk along at all times though with shops, cafes and restaurants to enjoy as well.

Weymouth - Further along the coast is Weymouth, your typical British seaside town. Lots to do and see including a Sea Life park, Weymouth pavilions and Sandy Beach

Golden Cap - Just on from Bridport is Golden Cap, a National Trust heritage site. It boasts amazing views over the coast and sea; perfect for a walk.

Montacute House - Historic National Trust property in the hamstone village of Montacute. It has been used for many period dramas, most notably Sense and Sensibility and the inspiration for Wallace and Gromit, Curse of the Were-Rabbit! As well as the house; the gardens are outstanding to explore.

Sherborne Castle - Sherborne Castle is a 16th century castle built by Sir Walter Raleigh. Enjoy looking around the castle, landscape gardens and a cream tea at their award winning tea rooms.
